'Mad Max' Star Tom Hardy Shut Down A Journalist's Sexist Question Like A Champ

It's 2015, yet people still cannot wrap their brains around the fact that women — gasp! — can star, and be badasses, in action movies. One person in particular apparently finds this hard to believe and that's a journalist from Canada, who asked actor Tom Hardy a sexist question at a "Mad Max: Fury Road" press conference in Cannes, France this May.
During the press conference, the moderator opened the floor for the audience to ask the cast questions. The journalist stood up and said, “I have five sisters, a wife, a daughter and a mother, so I know what it's like to be outgunned by estrogen."
Then, he asked Hardy, "Did you ever read the script and think, 'Why are all these women in here?' I thought this was supposed to be a man's movie?'"
Women in starring roles in action movies have always been few in far between — 88 percent of box office hits featured a man in a leading role — but "Mad Max" features Hardy alongside actress Charlize Theron, which made the already sexist question all the more awkward.
"Not for one minute," he continues. Then makes to a joke to presumably lighten the mood, which has become insanely awkward.
All the points to Tom Hardy for pointing out the obvious: Women, more than one even, can star in action movies, too.
Duh.
